About the Money Professors
The Money Professors share a passion for the success of students in their personal, financial, and professional lives. In 2009 the three men began working together at East Carolina University. They were acutely aware of the growing need for financial literacy both on and off the campus. After being sought after by outside organizations, reporters, and individuals for their expert advice, the three formed parent company, The Viaticus Group and its subsidiary, The Money Professors. Providing a combination of expert skills and knowledge that creates the resources and the consulting necessary to help universities deliver programs and content in a relevant and fun manner to their students.
The Money Professors provide end-to-end resources for professional and financial success. The Money Professors consist of speaking and consulting for higher educational professionals, corporate events, and college students. We also offer a broad range of solutions for educators, college students, and parents
Len Rhodes is the Director of Institutional Research at East Carolina University and a Teaching Instructor in the Department of Finance. A graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an M.B.A., he spent 14 years in small business and entrepreneurship in eastern North Carolina. In 2000, Len joined the College of Business at East Carolina University and is passionate about helping students acquire the financial decision-making skills they need to achieve their personal and professional goals. He has three children – two daughters and one son.
Bill Pratt is an Assistant Professor of Business at Piedmont Virginia Community College. Bill speaks on topics related to personal finance on college campuses across the country and is the author of multiple books on personal finance including The Graduate’s Guide to Life and Money and Extra Credit: The 7 Things Every College Student Needs to Know About Credit, Debt & Ca$h. Bill was formerly a Vice President at Citigroup and was an economist for the federal government. He left the financial industry to focus on helping students become personally and financially successful. He lives in Charlottesville, VA with his wife and their three pets.
Mark C. Weitzel is the founder and director of the Financial Wellness Institute at East Carolina University’s College of Business. Active in banking and finance for more than 30 years, Mark rose to the level of Vice President of Branch Operations and served as an instructor and regional President for the Institute of Financial Education. Since 1998, Mark has taught corporate finance in the College of Business at ECU and in 2001 created ECU’s first course in personal finance. In 2008 Mark received the Centennial Award for Excellence in Leadership for his work in improving financial Literacy at East Carolina University and in 2010 he became an ECU Leadership Fellow. Mark earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1984 and his MBA from Loyola University of Chicago in 1989. Throughout Mark’s career he has advocated for increasing the financial capability of his clients and students. He has been married for 25 years and has 3 daughters.
